Marketing Books for the Library

After finishing ‘Waiting for your cat to bark’ and ‘Purple Cow’ I got myself a new mini library now my recent Amazon orders have arrived. Not really finding much time to get through books with CIM course and marketing work at the minute but who’s in a rush man.

1. The brand you 50 by Tom Peters

2. Crucial Conversations by Patterson, Grenny, McMillan, Switzler

3. Presentation Zen by Garr Reynolds

4. Click by Bill Tancer

All my friends are superheroes!

Yeah right… But I read the book (All my friends are superheroes by Andrew Kaufman) anyway as I saw a blog somewhere saying it was a must read. A really short book of just over 100 pages and a really good read. Got it and finished it yesterday, which for a slow reader is quite an achievement!

Really enjoyed the book but I’m really confused about the ending. I’m sure it’s giving out a strong message but I don’t know which one!! I’ve tried to find blogs on it but everyone says what a great book blah blah and don’t discuss in much more detail. Does that mean nobody gets it or everybody gets it??

If anybody in my small blogosphere has read it or ever reads let me know. I need to put this book to bed.

New book arrives – give me a break…or a bath!

I’m pretty impatient at the minute so flitting between books dependent on my mood. My latest book has just arrived despite me not finishing the Cloudspotters Guide or The Big Moo yet. rather than waiting I took the opportunity to have a bath and read the first chapter of Bryan and Jeffrey Eisenberg’s Waiting for Your Cat to Bark?. I’m already hooked but just need to find the time to indulge my slow reading style and finish the other two books I’m part way through. Time for another Holiday or a week in bed…

I recently saw Bryan Eisenberg speak at the SES Conference in London and was really impressed by not only his obvious knowledge of what he talked about but also his passion for the subject and how he delivered the content of his short presentation. Hopefully the book will deliver and match the expectations set.

My latest audiobooks for my iPod Touch

Well first audio book and latest! I’ve been listening to The Cluetrain Manifesto by Christopher Locke, Rick Levine, Doc Searls and David Weinberger on my iPod rather than sticking it on random as I usually do. I’m gutted I haven’t read this book earlier. Definitely one I’d recommend.

What I can’t work out is whether I’d rather read the book or listen to it. It took a little while to get used to Dick, who is the American reading my book to me but now that I’ve got over that barrier I’m quite liking the whole story telling thing. I guess it’s safer than reading an actual book on my walk home from work but then again when I’m off in some parallel world expanding on some point that’s just been talked about in my head it’s probably equally as dangerous, if not more. The lights may look on but I doubt there’s anyone in at those points. And I guess on that point, when you get distracted or sidelined on a thought there is no pausing. Dick doesn’t wait for me.. he just carries on and expects me to catch up. To me that is the biggest downside of being read to by Dick. I can’t pause and think and then carry on at my own pace.
